Bulls Target Backcourt, Could Try To Move Duhon

13 06 2007

In the CHICAGO TRIBUNE, K.C. Johnson writes “the Bulls have secured a Saturday workout with Ohio State freshman Mike Conley Jr., the top-rated point guard in the June 28 NBA draft. Conley Jr., 19, follows Texas A & M’s Acie Law and Georgia Tech’s Javaris Crittenton, the second- and third-rated point guards who worked out together last week at the Berto Center. League sources have said Bulls third-year point guard Chris Duhon, who has one year at $3.25 million remaining on his contract, is on the trading block.”

Billups, Detroit Pistons Divorce Unlikely

10 06 2007

Marc J. Spears of the DENVER POST reports, "The 2004 Finals MVP plans to opt out of his contract paying $6.8 million next season to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. With all due respect to Vince Carter and Rashard Lewis, there is no better free agent on the market than this two-time all-star. And after missing out on a big contract previously, this is likely the last long-term lucrative contract that Chauncey Billups, 30, is going to land."

Cavs Can’t Shoot Straight, But They’re Still Offensive

8 06 2007

Mike Freeman of the CBS SPORTSLINE.com writes, "The offense of the Cavaliers is one of the more stunted, discombobulated and inept in recent championship history. Seriously, this might be the worst Finals squad since the New York Knicks, and that team shot so many bricks by the time they were done the poor backboards looked like the surface of the moon."

Cavs’ Regular Season Success Does Not Translate

8 06 2007
In the CLEVELAND PLAIN DEALER, Branson Wright writes “Cavaliers coach Mike Brown said throughout the week that his team's two-game regular-season sweep over the San Antonio Spurs would not mean much in the postseason. After Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday, he probably wish it had. Poor early shooting from LeBron James, another dismal third quarter, and some lackluster defense on Spurs point guard Tony Parker all led to an 85-76 Cavs loss. This was only one game, but the team that wins Game 1 has won 17 of the past 23 championships.”
